Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that it is currently impossible to deliver square billet made by its subsidiary Yenakiieve Steel since the plant has been shut down due to damage caused to the electricity supply grid. Furthermore, as a result of the armed conflict in the region, the plant's lime-kiln, refractory, converter and energy shops were damaged.
At the same time, Metinvest said that it is doing its best to repair the damaged facilities and relaunch production at Yenakiieve Steel. The company hopes to restore the plant and city infrastructure in Yenakiieve, Avdiivka and Khartsyzsk soon. The relaunch of operations at Avdiivka Coke is planned for the nearest future. Operations at Avdiivka Coke were also stopped due to the lack of electricity. Production at Yenakiieve Steel's main coke supplier Yenakiieve Coke, which had previously been shut down, has already been restored.
Metinvest Group continues to fulfill its obligations to deliver products that it produces outside the area of the armed conflict from Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol and Zaporizhstal. These enterprises are executing deliveries to customers under existing contracts.
