Dupont has announced the winners of 2015 Packaging Innovation Award, with Canada-based IPL achieving the highest honor for its ‘SkinnyPack Technology’.
With a majority of the recipients bagging the awards for their excellence in design, IPL won kudos for its mono-material packaging that produced a thin, light, strong structure capable of using less material and recycling.
DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers president William J. Harvey said: "They (the winners) exemplify how collaboration, innovation and packaging excellence converge to generate game-changing solutions that positively impact our lives."
The DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation deployed a panel of experts who have assessed around 140 entries from across 25 countries. One diamond, five gold and seven silver winners are adjudged for excelling on the fronts of technological advancement, responsible packaging and enhanced user experience.
Lead judge and Mintel Group global packaging director David Luttenberger said: "The novelty this year lies in the fact that we saw packaging designs that added intuitive functionality in a way that was both simple and meaningful for the user."
South Korean firm AmorePacific won the gold award in recognition of its squeezable mascara tube, while UK-based Unilever secured the same for designing a deodorant can that combines 'complexity with simplicity'.
