Europe-based Kurz Group, which specialises in hot stamping and coating technology, will launch its new DM Liner machine at the Xeikon Café Packaging Innovations event.
The machine has been developed for processing high gloss or holographic digital metal foils.
The paper sheets have to be first partially printed with dry toner following which the DM Liner coats the preprinted areas with Digital Metal foil. After this, the print media can be overprinted digitally or offset to produce an array of bold metallic colours.
Kurz project manager Digital Metal Sonja Steffl said: "Digital Metal combines digital printing with coating and metal-transfer process to create metallized surfaces, even for small runs or individual prints such as personalization.
"We believe our new technology around the DM-LINER is ideally suited to help Xeikon customers and brand owners to highlight how decorating digital print with real metal effects can impact the market and open up production opportunities."
The DM Liner is capable of applying 5 to 30 meters of Digital Metal foil per minute and is suitable for paper with grammages between 90 and 350 grams per square metre.
Xeikon director product marketing Jeroen van Bauwel said: "The ability to add special effects to quality digital print will give brand owners a greater chance to make their product pop and create a wow factor to help them stand out from the competition.
"Kurz is continuing to be a leader in the field of foiling by developing this unique technology that delivers high quality foiling. We are delighted to find a partner that will help our customers work with specialist associated technologies to further strengthen their print services portfolio."
