Austria-based plastic packaging manufacturer Alpla has opened new manufacturing facility at Bowling Green in Kentucky Transpark, US with an investment of about $22.4m
The new facility is located in spec Building IV in the Transpark and was built by the Bowling Green Area Economic Development Authority (BGAEDA).
Alpla US regional manager Jodok Schaeffler said when selecting a site earlier in 2013 to expand the operations, the company chose South Central Kentucky because of what the area had to offer.
"We are pleased to now have the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits as a functioning facility," Schaeffler added.
BGAEDA board chairman Rodney Rogers said Alpla exceeded the expectations the authorities had for the building when the construction process began.
"Not only was the building sold quickly, but the region gained a globally competitive company to an ever thriving plastic packaging industry here," Rogers added.
The new manufacturing facility is expected to create 72 full-time jobs.
