Smurfit Kappa Is Enhancing Its Supply in The Scandinavian Corrugated Market

Smurfit Kappa is enhancing its supply in the Scandinavian corrugated market with the launch of S-flute, a new proprietary concept that combines printing properties with high strength, low weight and environmental benefits.

The S-flute concept lays between the existing corrugated grades B- and E-flute when it comes to strength and quality of printing. The new concept offers printing possibilities with significantly less washboard effect than the B-flute, said the company.

The S-flute can give an increased fill factor of up to 25%, compared to the B-flute, implying it fits more sheets on a pallet, thereby saving transport costs and lowering CO2 emissions.

The key factors of S-flute claim to include economic storage and printing, combined with its printing expertise, to meet the demand. It is said to be completely in line with Smurfit Kappa's goal of achieving sustainable development.

It will be on-show at the Scanpack fair on 23-26 October 2012 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Smurfit Kappa is a European provider of innovative packaging solutions, operating in more than 30 countries globally, with over 330 production sites that produce 5.1 million tons of containerboard and 5 million tons of corrugated packaging.
