Chattanooga Bakery has unveiled new packaging for MoonPie,the company's brand of marshmallow cookie sandwiches.
To develop the new packaging,the company had hired The Goldstein Group,based in New York.The new packaging features a darker blue in combination with lighter blue swirls.
The company noted that the new packaging design is generating sales growth in select accounts and has received favorable response from consumers.
With the acceptance of the new package design and the resulting sales growth,the company is planning to integrate the new design in to all its MoonPie product lines.
Chattanooga Bakery marketing vice president Tory Johnston said that it had been nearly two decades since MoonPie made a major change to its packaging,so this was an important decision with strategic implications for the company.
"It was time to take an honest,fresh look and to further distinguish our brand for a new generation of consumers,"Johnston added.
MoonPies are available in six flavors-Chocolate,Vanilla,Banana,Lemon,Orange and Strawberry.
