Sustainability nonprofit GreenBlue said it added a standardized environmental profile for packaging service to its Advisory Services offerings.
The organization asked companies interested in designing more sustainable packaging applications to take advantage of this service to get an environmental life cycle profile of a new packaging format or an overall assessment of their current packaging portfolios to identify opportunities for improvement.
Included in the new package design analysis will be the implications of all proposed materials for each component of the package, transportation, and waste disposal, among others.
GreenBlue will exploit its COMPASS (Comparative Packaging Assessment) software tool to perform the assessment.
The confidential assessment will be based on a set of consumption, emissions and packaging attribute metrics, said the company.
