Zetes has developed a packaging execution software (PES), 'ZetesAtlas' that can be used to identify products in the supply chain process.
According to the Belgium-based firm, the software is helpful for packaging firms in managing, securing and improving the packaging identification process.
With ZetesAtlas, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) of the firms can be integrated with their packaging line to trace products in the supply chain system.
The software controls a line of peripherals such as printers, cameras and controllers, allowing packaging firms to manage all common processes associated with product identification in a right manner, said the company.
Using ZetesAtlas, a single person can control all the machines on the packaging line with a single machine interface, thus helpful in reducing the number of manual interventions and errors.
Zetes claims that the new software provides exact information on products with their packaging types including boxes, and can handle unit identification.
Additionally, ZetesAtlas is helpful in strengthening the traceability of each individual product unit as parent-child association in packaging line is made possible because of the serial numbers of the products that are read simultaneously and associated with the serial number of the box itself.
ZetesAtlas Business Solution Group head Pascal Longchambon said, "With the emergence of new data carriers, which allow more data to be encoded (for example, "best before date") and item level identification, companies understand the need for a solution that allows them to efficiently manage and orchestrate the whole packaging identificaiton process," Longchambon added.
