North East Lincolnshire-based Ultimate Packaging is remodelling its food standard factory and investing around £4m to install two additional Bobst F&K 20SIX flexo presses for increasing production capacity and flexibility.
The investment is expected to enhance manufacturing process, speed up setup times and fasten print speeds across the plant to bring up the print capacity by 15%.
With the flexo print factory, an additional three million linear metres of flexible packaging will be produced which will increase the monthly production capacity to 30 million linear metres.
Ultimate produces flexible packaging for food manufacturers across the UK and specialises in high definition flexo print technology besides reduced use of colour flexo print, a technique that claims to reduce waste, setup time and cost.
Ultimate Packaging sales and marketing director Chris Tonge said: 'The dramatic changes to the factory and massive investment into flexo print is a step to future-proof the flexo business and sends a clear message to both our customers and competitors.
"We are a truly independent company, experiencing a time of significant growth and development. We are focused on ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality products, which is why we invest in the very best equipment available."
Besides the current investments, the company also recently invested in new HP Indigo 20000, a wide format digital press.
The use of digital components is expected to help the flexo business to attract clients aiming at consumer engagement by using digitally printed packaging that comprises customisation, personalisation, one off designs and promotional links.
