China-based LED lighting makers recorded total export value of more than US$5 million for LED lamps used for growing plants during January-February 2015, according to China-based research organization GGII.
LED lamps can emit light of which physical properties such as brightness, color and wavelength cater to the growth of plants, GGII noted.
As much as 90% of China's production of plant-use LED lamps is for export, with LG-LED Solutions, Shenzhen Cidly Optoelectronic Technology and E.Shine Systems being the three largest makers in terms of export value, GGII said. About 75% of makers of such LED lamps are located in Guangdong Province, southern China, due to clustering of LED packaging service providers and LED component makers, GGII indicated.
As there is expected to be a large increase in the number of plant factories in China, demand for plant-use LED lamps there will grow fast over the next 3-5 years, GGII said.
