Used class 8 trucks did not sell as well in August 2014 as they had the month or even year before, according to ACT Research data.
Sales for used Class 8 trucks fell 10 percent in August when compared with July and six percent compared to last year.
“Year-to-date, sales remain down five percent,” said Steve Tam, president of the commercial vehicle sector at ACT. “The average selling price of total reported Class 8 trucks remained at a high level, but was flat relative to July.”
The selling price for vehicles is expected to appreciate by 10 percent in 2014 and Tam said there’s a chance prices might go even higher than currently projected.
While retail and wholesale markets also shrunk compared to the previous month, August auctions gained five percent.
