Kenmare to Promot Metabolix's Mvera B5008 Compostable Film Grade to European Customers

Packaging solutions supplier Kenmare will promote Metabolix's Mvera B5008 compostable film grade to its European customers, starting 2013, as part of an agreement.

Kenmare director Francesco Tognato said the company looks forward to expanding its business with bioscience company Metabolix as it steps up its production in Europe.

"With growing concern about single-use bags and the emergence of plastic bag regulations requiring either reusable or certified compostable alternatives, it has become increasingly important for bag suppliers and retail stores to offer more sustainable product options," Tognato said.

According to Metabolix, Mvera B5008 has been designed for consumer compost bags, can liners for commercial compostable food waste and also for shopping and retail bags that can be reused as consumer compost bags.

Certified by Vin?otte to meet the EN 13432 standard for compostable plastics, the film exhibits performance qualities including puncture and tear resistance, good barrier properties, printability and compatibility with other compostable polymers.

Based in Italy and Switzerland, international distribution company Kenmare partners with retailers as well as distributors to source their packaging needs with environmental innovation.
