Technovaa Packaging Industries, the industrial arm of Darvesh and a major paper products/plastic film producers in the regional packaging industry, has broken ground for a manufacturing facility at Kizad, according to the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC).
The company started the construction of a new manufacturing facility for an estimated initial investment of $68.06m (AED250m). The building will occupy a land size of more than 35,000 m2 in Kizad's KP4.
ADPC CEO and chairman board of directors, Kizad Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: "Kizad's comprehensive intermodal transportation network and close proximity to Khalifa Port with market access to more than 4.5 billion potential customers and business partners worldwide will not only offer Technovaa Packaging Industries enhanced supply chain efficiencies but guarantee smooth, time and cost effective import and export activities."
The new facility will further support their other branches in Dubai and Ras Al Khor. Technovaa also has manufacturing facilities for industrial and consumable packaging in other parts of the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.
Darvesh chairman Hassan Suleman Darvesh said: "Our new branch location provides unprecedented market access, especially through Khalifa Port, which will enable us to expand our export capacity. Our plan is to export 60% of our overall production volume from Kizad to European, Middle East and African markets and cater to the local demand.
"Furthermore, Kizad's highly competitive operating cost environment will provide us with an excellent business platform to further improve our full range of services, competitive pricing strategies, as well as our production and marketing capabilities."
