A new granola-style blend from Kellogg Australia is the latest addition to its Special K brand’s growing range of cereals.
Kellogg’s said the new Whole Grain Clusters provide “whole grains, fibre and protein”. The clusters also contain fruits, nuts and seeds. Special K Wholegrain Clusters are available in two flavours: Flame Raisin & Red Apple and Flaked Almonds, Cranberries & Pepitas.
Kellogg’s has focused in recent times on building a portfolio of ‘better-for-you’ breakfast cereal products. Earlier in April 2015, Australian Food News reported that the Special K brand had launched a new Five Whole Grain Muesli. The new muesli followed last year’s successful nutritional re-formulation of Special K, one of the oldest recipes under the Kellogg’s portfolio, the launch of All-Bran Muesli and the introduction of Special K Nourish – a multigrain cereal with quinoa and oat clusters.
“There’s a misconception that healthy must be bland and boring, but not in this case,” said James Meins, Senior Brand Manager for Special K. “We’ve created a breakfast option that’s delicious with a satisfying crunchy eat. Special K Whole Grain Clusters has been designed with today’s busy woman in mind, great to have in a bowl with their favourite toppings or to snack on when feeling a little peckish,” he said.
Kellogg’s has partnered with nutritionist and exercise physiologist Kathleen Alleaume, who has created three toppings for the Special K Clusters, pairing recipes inspired by fresh fruit and “superfoods” like chia seeds.
“There’s no better start to the day than with a healthy, well-balanced and fulfilling breakfast,” Ms Alleaume said. “It’s wonderful to see a new breakfast alternative that provides good nutrition, with the benefits of protein for fullness and also whole grains for health and wellbeing,” she said.
The Special K Whole Grain Clusters are available from Coles, Woolworths and leading independent supermarkets nationwide at RRP $5.99.
