Spanish firm Saica Group has agreed to acquire Irish-owned Americk Packaging Group of companies.
Americk produces labels and cartons, as well as environmental and flexible packaging solutions.
The company manufactures reel-fed, self-adhesive, in-mould, board, liner-less, cut and stack, peel and reseal and other labels for the food, chemical, household, dairy, beverage, horticulture, cosmetics and health sectors.
Americk manufactures cartons for different sectors, including food, healthcare, beverage, petcare and healthcare.
With around 690 employees, Americk Packaging operates six manufacturing sites in Ireland and the UK.
It also has additional operations, including PP Global and Starfish Brand Solutions who operate as independent brands in the same market.
The group generated a combined turnover of about £110m in the last year.
The deal is subject to the approval of Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
Americk Packaging CEO Patrick Doran said: “This approach has taken some careful consideration by me and our senior management team.

Saica president Ramon Alejandro said: “This agreement allows us to enter the flexible packaging market in Ireland and the UK more actively, hand in hand with a leading player.”
With around 8,000 employees, Saica provides sustainable solutions for the recycled paper and board packaging market.
The company, which produces around 2.5 million tonnes of recycled paper per year, carries out operations in Spain, Italy, Portugal UK, Ireland, Turkey and Luxembourg.
