Tetra Pak Obtain FSCL Chain of Custody Certification

Food packaging and processing company Tetra Pak has received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody (CoC) certification for all of its converting plants and market companies, making it eligible to supply FSC labelled packages from anywhere in the world.

Tetra Pak's certification represented FSC's largest multi-site certifications which currently covers around 92 facilities across the world.

A non-governmental organisation working towards the responsible management of forests, FSC's CoC certification enables traceability of wood fibres at every step through the supply chain.

An FSC logo will provide an assurance that the product has been manufactured adopting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management practices.

Tetra Pak vice president environment Mario Abreu said: "Consumers are increasingly aware of the environmental impact of the products they buy, expecting businesses to help them make better choices. The FSC logo is an easily recognisable hallmark for forest management, and our customers now have an opportunity to demonstrate their support for responsible forestry anywhere in the world.

"As a major user of paperboard, we feel it's our responsibility to do what we can to help improve the management of the world's forests, which is why we are working to ensure 100% of the paperboard we use is certified."

Tetra Pak launched the world's first FSC labelled carton for the liquid food carton industry in 2007 and has delivered close to 130 billion packages to customers with the FSC logo.
