February Brought a Widespread End to The Downward Spiral

February brought a widespread end to the downward spiral that has afflicted Central European OSB prices since mid-2011, a number of OSB manufacturers report. Prices have altered little in the past few weeks after buyers managed to secure additional reductions averaging in January and sometimes even in early February. A few manufacturers subsequently withdrew the discounts that they had offered over the winter for large orders or individual projects, most of which were in the region of 2-4%. Other suppliers intend to let these price cuts expire during the course of March. At the same time, several OSB producers firmed up plans announced from mid-January onwards to charge more for deliveries from March or April. As the end of February drew near, the first supplier informed its customers of plans to raise prices. Three more manufacturers followed suit in the first or second week of March. Other companies are still cautious and intend to make decisions about their own price increases in the coming weeks depending on how the market evolves. Source: euwid-wood-products.com
