Trade Resources Industry Views Actionpak Buys Equipment

Actionpak Buys Equipment

US-based contract packaging company ActionPak has purchased a new Tunnel Tornado from Karville Development Group to respond to the increase in demand for short-run shrink sleeve labelling.

The company has invested in the equipment to help differentiate products from established brands by providing them shelf appeal.

ActionPak CEO and president Ira Smith said: "This is an ideal opportunity for shrink sleeve labeling. Both niche products and test market runs require limited quantities.

"Digital printing makes production of small label quantities very affordable, but until recently, many brands with small volume needs would not have considered shrink sleeve labeling to be a viable decorating option. Cost, and the fact that most shrink sleeve labeling operations in the US are set up to accommodate much larger runs, have been considered the primary obstacles."

The company will feature its latest purchase at the AWA International Sleeve Label Conference and Exhibition 2015 that will be held on April 29 and 30 in Miami.

The Tornado Tunnel features a patented High Airflow Tornado section which helps it achieve higher quality shrinkage than conventional steam or hot air tunnels without the need for product rotation. This also helps the company save energy.

Concerns of exposure to moisture are also removed as shrink wrapped containers help in leaving the tunnel dry.

The heated air inside the Tornado Tunnel results in a uniform shrink without wrinkles.

ActionPak specialises in providing packaging solutions including shrink sleeve labelling, shrink wrapping and bagging, contract filling, product assembly, kitting, display assembly, rework projects, crating, blister and clamshell packaging along with HAZMAT packaging kits.
