Contego Packaging Plans to Invest in New Die-Cutting and Finishing Technology

Carton manufacturer Contego Packaging has announced plans to invest about €1m in new die-cutting and finishing technology at its Piacenza and Cervia plants in Italy.

At the Piacenza site, the company will install a paper collating and assembling machine, BAMA R 3000, which will be used to produce the company's Plurium multi-page booklets for patient information. It will check the gluing process, the page overlap and the final thickness of the assembled booklet, packagingeurope.com reported.

For rewinding and production of PFL and triple PFL leaflets, Contego will also install additional capacity in Piacenza.

The company will install a die-cutting machine, Bobst Novacut 106 E at its Cervia site. The installation has also enabled the commencement of a new project within the production area to enhance the layout of the factory.

The healthcare business within Contego Packaging is owned by Platinum Equity and supplies cartons, leaflets, labels and blister pack foils for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
