The most popular tablet size in the market is currently 7-inch, which accounts for about 70% of total shipments due to their low prices. The iPad is currently the best selling tablet series, but as Apple has not yet released its next-generation products, many Taiwan-based tablet vendors are offering promotional sales trying to expand their market shares.
Asustek has recently released its 7-inch MeMO series tablet, priced at NT$4,000-5,000 (US$134-167) in Taiwan. The company also has launched a 7-inch tablet, priced below NT$4,000, using VIA Technologies' solution. For the non-7-inch segment, Asustek has an 8-inch model and a 10-inch one. The 10-inch MeMO Pad FHD even supports Full HD resolution.
Acer has recently offered a price cut for its 7-inch Iconia B1 tablet and is promoting its 8-inch quad-core Iconia A1 for NT$7,000, as well as its W3, which features Windows 8, as its mainstream products.
Micro-Star International (MSI) has recently released its 7-inch Primo 73 tablet, priced at NT$4,690, and 8-inch Primo 81, priced at NT$7,000 in Taiwan. For the entry-level segment, MSI also has an aluminum-alloy chassis model priced below NT$4,000.
