The Downturn Slowed a Little Between October and December 2012

The downturn in German particleboard exports slowed a little between October and December 2012 after the second and third quarters had ended with a drop in shipments. Preliminary figures released by the German Federal Statistical Office indicate that raw particleboard exports slipped just 2.9 % to 205,925 m3 in the fourth quarter. By way of comparison, exports had risen 15 % to 231,100m3 in the first three months of the year. The second quarter was already 1.7 % below the prior-year stretch at 217,132 m3, before the third quarter ended with a 29 % plunge to 166,764 m3.
