Turkish Hot Rolled Coil Exports Continue at a Slow Pace

Turkish hot rolled coil exports continue at a slow pace, as many of those involved in the export market are on summer holiday. Moreover, prices offered by Turkish mills are uncompetitive. However, Steel Business Briefing is informed by market players that Turkey's HRC exports, mainly to the EU, are expected to increase in September and beyond. Turkey is offering HRC at $735-740/tonne fob. Some contracts were concluded in July with Middle Eastern buyers in Israel, Syria and Lebanon at $725-730/t fob for September rolling. A Turkish exporter comments that HRC prices are expected to increase in September and October after the holidays, as stock levels will be low. Raw material costs make price increases necessary, he adds. Source: steelbb.com
