The Coca-Cola Co in Japan Has Decided to Opt for LED Lighting

Tags: LED lighting

The Coca-Cola Co in Japan has decided to opt for LED lighting in all new purchases of vending machines for beverage products in cans and PET bottles, starting from 2012.

The company claims that its annual power consumption for vending machines has been reduced by approximately 66 per cent over the last 10 years. Now with the energy saving from the implementation of LEDs, the company hopes for an even greater reduction in energy use.

It is thought the decision may be connected to the nuclear crisis in Japan. The country is undergoing energy shortages since the tsunami in early March, and companies and individuals have been keen to minimise the use of energy out of a sense of civic responsibility.
