German carmaker Volkswagen has unveiled the new Beetle electric concept 'E-Bugster' at 2012 Auto China in Beijing, China.
The new two seater E-Bugster concept, which is the pre-production version of the new Beetle Convertible, is powered by lithium ion batteries which produce a maximum power of 85 kWh.
Its electric motor will deliver an output of 115PS and facilitates the concept to propel from 0 to 100kmph in 10.9 seconds, while offering a range of about 125km from a fully charged 28.3kWh lithium-ion battery.
Volkswagen has developed a new Combined Charging System, which facilitates charging via a single-phase AC source or through ultra-fast DC sources at specific charging stations.
The carmaker said the new concept will offer increased driving range, which can be attained as soon as the driver's foot leaves the accelerator pedal and/or brakes, the kinetic energy is converted into electricity which is further stored in the battery.
