Greif Announces Plans to Expand Its Southeastern Packaging Sheet Feeder Operation in US

Industrial packaging products and services provider Greif has announced plans to expand its Southeastern packaging sheet feeder operation in Concord, North Carolina, US.

The expansion will see the addition of a second advanced corrugator by mid-2015.

Greif packaging division president Tim Bergwall said the company has made strategic investments in its Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky operations in the last 18 months to add new capabilities and expand capacity.

"The second corrugator at Southeastern will incorporate several proprietary technologies developed in these locations and will enable us to grow with strategic customers in the region," Bergwall added.

According to the company, the latest investment into the paper packaging business will allow it to capitalize on the expansion at its nearby containerboard mill in Riverville, Virginia.

Further, the company will also be able to bolster its value proposition for key customers.

Greif is also planning to cease its Flexible Products & Services (FPS) facility operations in Saudi Arabia by the end of August.

Developed in 2010 as a joint venture between Greif and National Scientific Company (NSC), Greif FPS represents the integrated global network for FIBCs, technical textiles, shipping sacks, container liners, PackH2O and more.

The company, which has its presence in about 50 countries, manufactures steel, plastic, fibre, flexible, corrugated, multiwall and reconditioned containers, intermediate bulk containers, containerboard and packaging accessories.

In addition, the firm offers blending, filling, packaging and industrial packaging reconditioning services for different industries.
