Bosch Packaging Technology has received the Red Dot Award for the first time from the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen in the product design category for its FXS Combi machine.
The FXS Combi that was launched at Interpack 2014 is a filling and closing machine developed for pre-sterilized nested syringes, vials and cartridges (small glass containers).
The machine is equipped to handle three different pre-sterilized packaging types along with all common filling technologies.
The machine also comes with an integrated capping station for vials and cartridges where containers are closed immediately post filling for the highest pharmaceutical safety.
FXS Combi can also be integrated into complete line concepts by combining it with proven tub and bag openers and different barrier systems. This also helps in achieving significant space savings.
Created by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Red Dot Award receives close to 17000 entries every year. The award is considered to be an internationally respected seal for outstanding design quality.
This year's competition saw international experts assessing around 4928 entries from across 56 countries.
Bosch product manager in Crailsheim that developed the machine Klaus Ullherr said: "We are very happy about the Red Dot Award, which underlines our expertise in the development of innovative solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.
"The award shows that our products are not only convincing in terms of quality. They also stand out internationally because of their design."
Employing close to 5,600 people, the Bosch Packaging Technology division develops and produces complete solutions for the pharmaceuticals, food, and confectionery industries.
