Flexible packaging materials manufacturer Rollprint Packaging Products has announced an investment of $1.25m on a new pouch manufacturing line for sterile medical and other applications.
The new multi-configuration Ritemed 900 CHB machine supplied by Swiss company Water Line has a width of 1m and will be installed in Rollprint's Addison, Illinois cleanroom in the US by the end of 2013.
The overall production is expected to increase by 25%, with the installation of the new Ritemed unit, which also features a non-contact web cleaner and monitoring/data collection capabilities.
With a capacity of up to 100 cycles per minute, the machine can handle up to five webs simultaneously including aluminum foil, medical-grade paper, coated and uncoated Tyvek, and polypropylene and polyethylene films.
The machine monitors pressure, temperature and time parameters for every pouch and archives data electronically for every pouch that is manufactured.
Rollprint's 8, 6,000ft2 cleanroom houses five production lines producing various sterile medical pouch structures including traditional and barrier header bags, chevron, vented, three-side weld seals and corner peels among others.
