Smurfit Kappa said it has been recognised for its expertise in packaging creation and design with securing two awards at the NL Packaging Awards 2018.
The 'Milner Packmaster 2.0' won gold in the 'Transport & Shelf-ready Packaging' category reinforcing Smurfit Kappa’s credentials for providing packaging that can withstand even the most complex supply chain and stand out on the shelf.
'The concept is thought through very well: efficient in the supply chain and optimal runability on the machine. From a technical point of view the concept is well developed, such as the possibility to transport the product horizontally and present it vertically on the shelf,' said the NL Packaging jury.
The second winner was the ‘Horeca Tasting Box’ for new beer products in the ‘Promotional Packaging’ category which was praised by the jury for ‘telling a story.’
Speaking about the awards, Erik Bunge, CEO Smurfit Kappa Benelux, stated: 'I think it is fantastic that we have been successful at the NL Packaging Awards for the third year in a row.
“Working together with our customers to design innovative packaging solutions that contribute to their business success is what drives us every day. The 70 designers from Smurfit Kappa Benelux always have the market and customer needs as a starting point when designing new packaging concepts. These awards prove once again that the translation of our vision into daily practice is appreciated by both our customers and the judging panel.'
The NL Packaging Awards is the preeminent industry award for the packaging industry in the Netherlands and celebrate innovation in packaging solutions.
The shortlisted packaging solutions will be showcased in the Smurfit Kappa Experience Centre in Oosterhout for the remainder of this month and all are welcome to visit.
