US-based UOP, a Honeywell company has been selected by Zhejiang Julong Petrochemical (ZJLPC) to provide key technology for a new unit to produce propylene at its Chinese facility.
Honeywell's UOP said the company will provide engineering design, technology licensing, catalysts, adsorbents, equipment, staff training and technical service for the project, as part of the contract.
The unit, which is expected to start in 2013 will annually produce 450,000mt of propylene, a material used in the production of chemicals and materials such as films and packaging.
UOP's C3 Oleflex technology will be used to convert propane to propylene at the new propane dehydrogenation unit at the facility, by using catalytic dehydrogenation.
Enabled by low operating and capital costs, good propylene yield and reliability, and maximum operating flexibility, the technology provides the lowest cash cost of production.
