AMD has unveiled a 5GHz CPU processor, the AMD FX-9590, which is claimed to be the most powerful member of its FX family of CPUs.
Initially available in PCs through system integrators in two models including the FX-9590 with eight Piledriver cores 5GHz Max Turbo and the FX-9370 with eight Piledriver cores, 4.7GHz Max Turbo, both of which feature AMD Turbo Core 3.0 technology.
AMD Client Products Division corporate vice president and general manager Bernd Lienhard said, "The new FX 5 GHz processor is an emphatic performance statement to the most demanding gamers seeking ultra-high resolution experiences including AMD Eyefinity technology."
According to the company, the processors offer new levels of gaming and multimedia performance for desktop users and are unlocked for easy overclocking that offers better CPU speeds and performance gains.
The AMD Turbo Core 3.0 technology is claimed to optimise performance across CPU cores and allow maximum amount of computing for intensive workloads.
