Fonterra Begins Construction of New IDR357bn Blending and Packing Facility in Indonesia

New Zealand-based dairy firm Fonterra has begun construction of its new IDR357bn ($31.3m) blending and packing facility at Cikarang in West Java, Indonesia.

The plant is expected to be the company's first manufacturing facility in the nation that would support the growth of its dairy brands such as Anlene, Anmum and Anchor Boneeto.

With the new Cikarang facility, which would become operational by March 2015, Fonterra looks to enhance its long-term business by expanding consumer brands and on-ground capabilities.

Fonterra Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) managing director Pascal De Petrini said, "This new blending and packing facility is the next step for our business in Indonesia, where we already have a strong and established presence."

Fonterra's new plant will have the capacity to annually pack and blend 12,000t of advanced and base nutrition milk powder products.

The company says that the capacity is equivalent to nearly 87,000 packs of Anlene, Anmum, and Anchor Boneeto per day.
