FMI’s Rapid Development Program (RDP) is designed to streamline the development process, which typically starts with R&D and ends with a new product launch.
"The purpose of this program is to give companies a quick and cost effective means to develop and prototype new part concepts and designs," said Harold Sant Engineering Manager of FMI.
Instead of purchasing a complete prototype tool, which can take several weeks to design and develop, a manufacturer would purchase a single cavity insert that fits into a standard mold base. The RDP includes a custom cavity insert, 50 prototype parts, and a first article inspection (FAI) report.
Lead times are shorter than typical production molds and deliver the same quality. Inserts are made from production quality tools (420 ESR Stainless Steel), and can produce up to 2,000 parts before maintenance is typically required. FMI’s Rapid Development Program is ideal for companies looking to prove out new concepts quickly and inexpensively.
