Folding cartons manufacturer rlc | packaging has installed a new Speedmaster XL 106-9-LYYLYY-1 press supplied by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen at its Aachen facility in Germany.
The press has ten inking units, two coating units, as well as four intermediate units with IR, hot-air, and UV dryer technology and an extended delivery.
With the move, the packaging firm expects to strengthen its business in the confectionery and beauty packaging segments.
rlc management spokesman Hans-Christian Bestehorn said the press enables the company to meet challenging surface finishing requirements in the beauty and fine fragrance segment.
"What's more, the new Speedmaster XL 106 makes our production far more efficient," Bestehorn added.
The new press is said to produce about 18,000 sheets per hour depending on the application.
Speedmaster XL 106 comes with inline technology and downstream printing unit that suppot support coating effects, while producing screen vignettes and matt/gloss textures.
Additionally, the press includes integrated Prinect Inpress Control color measuring system that monitors printing process for color quality and consistency, while the system measures and records process colors, spot colors, and register in the print control strip.
