Polyester film manufacturer in India Uflex Group has announced the beginning of packaging film production at its new Biaxially Oriented Polyester (BOPET) film plant in Poland. Operating under the aegis of Flex Films Europa, the project is the group’s fourth overseas manufacturing facility.
According to the company, running at 500 meters/minute, the new 8.7m wide film line can produce 36,000mt/year of film and is supplemented by a plasma enhanced high-barrier metallizer that can convert 6,000mt of film annually.
Uflex global films business CEO Pradeep Tyle said the company proposes to operate out of at least 12 countries by 2020.
"We want to get ever closer to our valued film customers by locating plants next door to them. Just-in-time deliveries not only enable our customers to totally do away with film inventories and warehousing, the freshly manufactured films also bring with them better functional properties that are better suited for conversion," Tyle added.
Uflex announced plans to establish a plant in Poland with an investment of $80m, in February 2011.
