Multipack Has Invested in a Brand New Food Processing and Packing Facility

Multipack has invested in a brand new food processing and packing facility to complement its growing FMCG and retail packaging business. The new facility, based in Sydney's suburb of Ingleburn, is an upgrade of the company's existing food pilot site which has been operating for over two years.

This step will see the creation of two distinct divisions, Multipack Food and Multipack Retail, with the latter housed at the company's headquarters in Moorebank. The Retail division’s portfolio includes kitting, gift sets, gift-with-purchase, multi-packs and seasonal packing, as well as regular retail packing.

The new 3400m2 facility, which will open officially in August, houses six clean rooms, cold storage facilities and pallet racking for 1000+ pallets.

Designed and purpose-built with the assistance of expert food facility consultants Total Construction, the site is fully accredited and has a suite of equipment that allows full service processing, filling and packing of liquid, powder, granule and solid food products. Product testing and development also forms part of the company’s repertoire.

On the eve of the company's move to the new plant, PKN spoke to Multipack's sales and marketing director Brad Devine about how the new facility will serve to differentiate the company.

“In the Sydney market, this level of investment in a food contract packing facility is significant and is truly raising the bar,” he says, noting that the decision to invest was not entered into lightly, but rather off the back of strong partnerships Multipack has with its customers.

“Our business has been built on strong relationships with a number of multinational and local brand owners in the FMCG sector, and our willingness to invest was spurred on by their support of our strategic plans,” Devine says.

Most importantly, the facility is designed to accommodate significant growth.

“We see tremendous opportunity for growth, driven by dynamics in the prevailing retail environment – notably the brand-owners’ need to innovate and diversify, to provide value beyond price in order to stay relevant on shelf and compete successfully against private label products,” Devine says.
