Air Products Helps China's Glass Industry Achieve Sustainable Development

Industrial gases firm Air Products is supplying its integrated oxy-fuel solution to Chinese firm Chengdu Jin Gu Pharmaceutical Packaging.

The Chinese firm is using Air Products’solution to manufacture pharmaceutical glass containers.

It helps China glass industry achieve sustainable sevelopment and enhance competitiveness.

Jin Gu produces glass packaging solutions, including tubular glass vials, tubular glass ampoules, cartridge, molded glass vial, glass bottle and related cap, dropper and stopper.

Air Products’ integrated solution customized for Jin Gu is said to include Cleanfire mini HRi oxy-fuel burners and liquid oxygen.

It will also offer technical support for glass formulation improvement, as well as computational fluid dynamics simulations of the glass melting furnace for smooth conversion under a tight schedule.

Air Products also offers its integrated oxy-fuel solution to other types of glass manufacturers, comprising of fiberglass, glass containers for food and drink and heat resistant glass for home appliances.

Air Products Asia strategy, marketing and technology vice president Brandon Fu said: “We are honored to be selected by Jin Gu to support their conversion from air-fuel to oxy-fuel combustion, and we are pleased to see the encouraging results immediately.

“This project also underscores our commitment to supporting the sustainable development of China’s glass industry.”

With operations in around 50 countries, Air Products supplies atmospheric and process gases and related equipment to manufacturing markets, including refining and petrochemical, metals, electronics, and food and beverage.
