German automaker Volkswagen has unveiled its Beetle Convertible ahead of its world premiere at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Volkswagen has incorporated a soft-top on Beetle Convertible that takes 10 seconds to open and close, and this can be done at speeds of up to 48km/h.
Beetle Convertible, the third-generation of VW ragtop, will be available in the US with three engine options.
Basic with a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that delivers an output of 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2.0-liter TDI diesel Clean Diesel four-cylinder delivers an output of 140 hp and 236 lb-ft, with a choice between a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic.
The company said tha the 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI four-cylinder that delivers 200 hp and 207 lb-ft can be ordered with either a six-speed manual or DSG automatic.
The safety features of the vehicle include an automatic rollover support system that comes with two roll-over bars concealed behind the back of the rear bench seat, which will be activated by the computer that deploys the airbags in the case of a crash.
VW Beetle Convertible is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2013.
