NFP Has Changed Its Name as Well as Opened Its Organization to All Natural Fiber Producers

Natural Fiber Producers (NFP), formerly known as North American Alpaca Fiber Producers, has changed its name as well as opened its organization to all natural fiber producers in North America.

NFP is an agricultural cooperative, established May 2007, with a mission of assisting farms to become self-supporting through the use of their natural fiber.   NFP is the vehicle, farms utilize to get their fiber into a value added form for a higher, more sustainable return.

Between 2002 and 2007, 4,080,300 acres of agricultural land were converted to developed uses—an area nearly the size of Massachusetts.  Natural fibers need to become part of the equation that saves the diversified family farm.

“We can keep doing business as usual, or we can adjust how we do agribusiness by making sure the farmer receives a reasonable return for his or her efforts and investment,” said Robyn Kuhl, NFP’s administrator.  “NFP utilizes Certified Sorted® fiber only, ensuring not only a superior product, but also a superior return of profit to the farms.

Natural Fiber Producers creates a wide variety of products from member fiber:

  • yarns
  • roving for hand-spinners
  • hats
  • scarves
  • gloves
  • socks
  • duvets for your bed.

Custom yarns for companies who further value add.

  • Using all N. American Natural Fibers

              -           Processed in the US only.

-           The profit is returned to the farms

The Natural Fiber Producers (NFP) is a for profit organization established to support natural fiber producers and assist them in processing fiber and selling fiber products to the consumer. We sell both hand knitting and custom yarns for the knitwear market, upholstery and weaving market.
