The Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority started collecting glass for recycling again on Monday.

It's been collected on and off for the past ten years, but about six months ago it had to stop due to a lack of space and funding.

Now clear, brown, and green glass bottles are being accepted again. The Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority recently moved from Lockside Road in Morgantown to the Industrial Park nearby.

The bins are only located outside of the main collection center at the Industrial Park. If you drop it off at a satellite site you'll be hit with a fine for littering.

Officials are saying they're happy to help people recycle glass like they used to.

Jessica Maple is the Executive Director of the Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority. She said, "It is a heavy material to put in your trash. Anything we can keep from going to the landfill is a huge plus for our environment."

Glass bottles are the only glass products accepted. Other items such as plates, windows, and ceramics aren't being collected.
