Nestlé UK & Ireland are set to implement a new nutrition labeling scheme, which has been created by the Department of Health to provide shoppers in the UK with consistent labeling.
Said to be the latest food pledge in the Government's Public Health Responsibility Deal, the scheme has been created by working with health organizations, retailers and manufacturers.
Nestlé UK & Ireland chairman and chief executive officer Fiona Kendrick said the company is adopting the labeling scheme in the UK as it recognizes its importance to the public health agenda.
"Providing consumers with consistency in front of pack labelling is central to them using this information. We look forward to working with the Department of Health and other stakeholders to make it easier for shoppers to choose foods and beverages to create a healthy, balanced diet," Kendrick added.
Nestlé UK & Ireland already displays the labeling scheme combining guideline daily amount information, on most of its labels, with a color coding system.
