JSW Steel Posted a 37 Percent Year-on-Year Increase in Crude Steel Production

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, has posted a 37 percent year-on-year increase in crude steel production to 2.98 million mt for the second quarter of financial year 2013-14.

According to the company's statement, in the second quarter JSW Steel produced 2.45 million mt of flat rolled products, up 69 percent, while its long rolled product output amounted to 460,000 mt, increasing by 3 percent, both compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the first half of 2013-14 financial year, JSW Steel produced 5.84 million mt of crude steel, up 35 percent, compared to corresponding period of the previous year.

JSW Steel had shutdown one of its Corex furnaces for capaticy enchancement in the given quarter. The furnace in question has commenced production on 12th September.
