Aeon Lighting Technologies (ALT) has won the 2012 Good Design Award with its Asteria MR16 that offers a highly efficient replacement for the traditional halogen lamps that are common in retail and office environments.
Organised by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), the prestigious Good Design Awards have been given to outstanding designs for more than 50 years. The judges remarked that ALT's MR16 has high-quality craftsmanship in both product appearance and overall design.
The 7W LED is able to achieve considerable energy savings as a replacement for traditional technology whilst its patented heat dissipation system and in-house power design help prolong its lifespan.
"ALT's success with the MR16 sets this product apart in the market for halogen replacements. With legislation potentially leading to the phase-out of traditional halogens, consumers are calling for a highly efficient replacement without having to compromise on performance", explained Simon Leggett, Managing Director of Light Planet who distribute the range in the UK.
"The award-winning design of the MR16, along with the introduction of a very high-powered chipset across the ALT range, allows us to offer an LED alternative with quality, stable light output, reduced power consumption and enhanced lifespan".
Last week, ALT announced the introduction of a 2200K colour chipset to meet the market demand for a warmer, golden light that can match the output of an incandescent lamp. The chipset, which is the result of a co-development with market leaders CREE, has been integrated across ALT's range to provide ideal replacements for incandescent and halogen lamps.
ALT has become the first LED lighting manufactuer in Asia to acquire several of the top design awards in the world including – IF Design, RedDot. and Good Design Award.
CEO of ALT, James Liang, commented: "ALT's ability to acquire several world-class design awards has proven that its R&D and design capabilities rival those of world-renowned LED manufacturers".
