German carmaker Volkswagen has launched the second generation model of its Santana in China.
VW's new Santana is be powered by two newly developed naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engines, including 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre version.
The 1.4-litre version produces 66 kW / 90 PS and has a combined fuel consumption of 5.9 l/100 km, while the 1.6-litre has 81 kW / 110 PS with a fuel consumption of 6.0 l/100 km.
Compared to the previous model, the new engines will reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions up to 28%.
Safety features of the new model include ABS, front, side and head airbags and an ESC electronic stabilisation programme.
The new sedan is also equipped with air conditioning or automatic climate control, electric sliding sunroof, alloy wheels, parking sensors and leather upholstery.
The new Santana, which is produced at Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive in China, will be available in the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline versions, in the domestic market in late 2012.
