Xeikon has ceased the Trillium liquid toner development project due to difficulties in promoting the product as a commercial product.
The company has first showcased the liquid toner technology at the last year’s drupa event.
Xeikon said that it has taken the decision to re-focus on using resources and keeping efforts for delivering enhanced solutions for the customers.
Flint Group digital solutions president and CEO Benoit Chatelard said: “We continuously review our portfolio and we are confident the segments we operate can be well served with our current dry toner technology and the newly launched Panther UV inkjet technology.
“With our dry toner technology, we will continue our focus on both the packaging and document businesses, as well as specialty segments where we bring significant value including security printing and wall décor.
“Our core vision remains supporting high volume, high quality, high value business for our customers in the graphic arts market and security printing.”
In September, Xeikon has introduced four new digital label presses at this year’s Labelexpo Europe event in Belgium.
At the event, the company has unveiled Xeikon CX500 wide web digital label press, Xeikon PX3000 press, Xeikon PX2000 press and latest generation of X-800 digital front-end.
Xeikon CX500, which is part of the firm’s Cheetah Series, is claimed to be first press based on a new generation dry toner platform that is ready for Industry 4.0.
