Amcor Has Introduced New Technology LiquiForm

Australia-based packaging company Amcor has introduced new technology LiquiForm, which is said to benefit liquid packaging producers.

The new technology will use the consumable liquid instead of compressed air to hydraulically form and fill the container on one machine simultaneously.

LiquiForm helps in producing rigid plastic containers for different products, by combining the forming and filling processes into one step.

The new technology will reduce capital costs and improve operating efficiency and product quality, for consumer product manufacturers, said Amcor.

In 2006, Amcor developed the concept of LiquiForm. The company has set up a joint venture (JV) that owns the patented LiquiForm technology and related intellectual property.

The JV has signed agreements with bottling machinery manufacturer Sidel and Japan's plastic bottle manufacturer Yoshino Kogyosho and Nestle Waters.

Amcor and Sidel each own equal stake in the JV.

The JV involves in issuing licences, which will allow machine manufacturers to produce and sell equipment using the LiquiForm technology.

Amcor managing director and CEO Ken MacKenzie said the new technology will transform the rigid plastic container manufacturing industry, by offering significant benefits to all players throughout the value chain.

"I have been in the packaging industry for over 20 years and in my opinion, LiquiForm has the potential to be one of the most important breakthrough technologies in liquid packaging," MacKenzie added.
