H3D Tool Corp., a manufacturer of custom cutting tools for a number of industry segments, including the wood industry, says it has expanded its operations to serve an increase in demand, including a growing international business. Headquartered in Newcomerstown, Ohio, H3D Tool says its custom cutting tool factory expansion includes delivery of a range of additional equipment, including a Vollmer QWD 760H machine. The QWD760H machine is a 5 axis horizontal wire erosion machine, which H3D Tool selected for its ability in processing tight tolerance PCD tools. The 760 gives H3D Tool the added ability to produce tools between centers, which it says ensures reliable performance can be attained when running at higher spindle speeds used in many milling applications. H3D Tool traces its background to 1968, when Herco, Inc. was founded by Harold Rivers and Gary Dyer to supply a niche market in V grooving for the speaker cabinet industry. In January of 2008, the Herco and 3-D Diamond Cutting Tools companies were merged to create the H3D Tool Corp. In addition to PCD diamond tooling, H3D Tool produces saw blades, spiral routers, tool holders and collets and other tooling and tool related supplies. Source: woodworkingnetwork.com
