Owens-Illinois (O-I) is all set to collaborate with technology-based glass processing company in the US, eCullet, to form a new joint venture (JV) named Glass to Glass.
According to the glass container manufacturer O-I, the JV will invest in new glass sorting equipment that will make recycled glass available for use in the company's plants.
Improved sorting techniques are expected to increase the amount of usable glass available to the company.
O-I vice president of regional integrated operations for North American operations Jay Scripter said, "We are encouraged by the formation of this joint venture, as we believe we can improve the supply of recycled glass to our North American plants."
By using recycled glass in the glass manufacturing process, O-I can minimize its use of virgin raw materials, thereby reducing its overall environmental imprint.
