StePac, a UK-based subsidiary of Johnson Matthey’s, has introduced new fresh produce packaging solutions for retail industry
StePac has launched Xgo retail packaging solutions for whole fruits, vegetables and fresh herbs, as well as fresh-cut salads.
Xgo lidding films can be used for a range of produce packed in either PET or PP tray, while re-sealable lidding film is available only for PET.
Xgo preformed bag solutions will enhance the shelf life of both whole and fresh cut fruits and vegetables.
Different films with varying water vapor transmission rates are developed to offer optimal moisture control for each type of produce being packed
The company has developed Xgo flow pack solutions for use in automated retail packing processes.
Xgo standing pouch has been developed to offer extended shelf life in a convenient and grab-n-go retail packaging format. The standing pouch provides good film clarity and condensation control.
Johnson Matthey technical development manager Dr Gary Ward said: “We're building on the latest developments in advanced Xtend modified atmosphere/modified humidity (MA/MH) technology and packaging design to help both retailers and international food brands to address growing consumer demands for premium quality packaged produce.
“Our retail packaging solutions rev-up customer demand by displaying fresher, more appealing produce in convenient, attractive easy to identify, easy to handle packaging."
The company will exhibit its Xgo advanced retail packaging line at the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Expo event in New Orleans, US. The event will take place between 20 and 21.
