Australian packaging company Amcor has acquired China-based Hebei Qite Packing for around RMB185m ($28m).
The acquisition will allow Amcor to expand its flexible packaging operations in the Northern China region.
Hebei Qite, which operates one facility in Hebei, produces packaging products for domestic customers within the dairy and food segments.
The company manufactures multi-layer compound color printed products and film products. It generates sales of around RMB180m ($28m) per annum.
Hebei Qite includes two German Battenfeld multi-layer co-extruded blown film production lines, four advanced printing machines, three wide high-speed dry composite machines and six bag-making machines.
Currently, Amcor operates 11 flexible packaging facilities in China, including two facilities close to Qite in Northern China.
Amcor managing director and CEO Ron Delia said, “Amcor continues to have substantial opportunities to grow our flexible packaging business in the Asian region.
“Globally and especially within Asia, China is a very attractive growth market for flexible packaging. This acquisition will enhance our already attractive platform for growth with new and existing customers in the important Northern region.”
