Bottling plants and packaging machines producer SMI Group has signed an agreement with Datalogic for the exclusive supply of the latter's products.
The deal will allow to integrate Datalogic sensors in SMI's bottling and packaging machines, which will be supplied to major companies.
The companies include Carlsberg, Coca Cola, Danone, Diageo, Inbev, Heinz, Heineken, Nestlè, PepsiCo, SABMiller and Unilever which operate in the food and beverage sectors.
Development of new solutions is also included in the scope of the agreement to meet the future needs of customers.
As part of the deal, SMI will supply the IS inductive proximity, M18 tubular photoelectric sensors in the S15 series, SR21slot sensors, S3Z miniature sensors, S8 compact sensors, S7 fibre optic amplifiers and US18 ultrasound sensors.
Datalogic also provides safety barriers, vision systems and laser marking solutions, besides the range of sensors such as photoelectric, inductive, capacitive and ultrasound systems.
The IS series product line comprises models that range from 6.5mm to 30mm diameter. They detect metal object at distances from 1.5mm to 20mm.
In the S15 series, the M18 standard tubular photoelectric sensors consist of an entire range of optic functions in diffuse, retro-reflective or through-beam mode with plastic or stainless versions and IP69K protection.
According to Datalogic, they are certified for use in the food as well as bottling industry.
With response times of about 20μs and detection frequencies up to 25kHz, the slot sensors SR21 can be used to detect labels.
With various models for basic applications and laser emission models, the S3Z series includes miniature photoelectric sensors, which can be used to detect small objects.
The S8 series of compact sensors will be used in advanced applications to detect contrast, luminescence, transparent objects, and diffuse mode with background suppression.
Datalogic Group chairman and CEO Romano Volta said, "We are proud of the partnership between SMI, a consolidated and innovative enterprise, and Datalogic, a company which can deliver an extremely wide range of solutions, meeting client and partner requirements for both the industrial automation and the automated data acquisition industries."
